My grandmother developed Alzheimer’s and eventually reached a point where she could no longer drive. My mother began having meals delivered to her so we could make sure she had food at home. But we quickly noticed a problem: many of the available delivery options weren’t the healthy, home-cooked meals my grandmother enjoyed.
Then I began noticing something even more concerning.
When I would visit my grandmother to check on her, I would find meals my mother had ordered still sitting in the refrigerator. This happened several times.
That was when I realized my grandmother wasn’t necessarily refusing to eat—sometimes she was simply forgetting to eat.
It made me think: If this is happening in my family, how many other families are experiencing the same thing and may not even realize it?
Our family loves my grandmother dearly, and as a Christian family, we believe we are called to care for one another with love, compassion, and kindness. But like so many families, we simply cannot be there every day. My uncle works full-time and visits her at least twice a week. My mother suffered a stroke and can no longer drive to visit her. I work full-time as well.
But I noticed something important: when I was there with my grandmother, she ate.
She would enjoy her meal, we could watch one of her favorite television shows together, and she would be in great spirits.
That’s when the idea for Pankey’s Table truly came together.
I realized that some seniors need more than a meal left at the door. Sometimes they need a friendly face to sit with them for a little while, encourage them to enjoy their meal, talk with them, and simply be present.
That is why we created the Pankey’s Table Concierge Service.
We deliver more than a meal. We provide a caring check-in and companionship around mealtime, giving families added peace of mind when they cannot be there themselves.
When I told my husband that I wanted to start Pankey’s Table, he supported me wholeheartedly. He told me, “This business is a need, not a want.” His words confirmed what I had already begun to understand: seniors and their families need nutritious meals, meaningful support, and someone who cares enough to show up.
My grandmother has her own home. She loves her home. She wants to continue living there and going to church on Sundays. And like so many seniors, maintaining that sense of independence is important to her.
Pankey’s Table was created to help support that independence while giving families another set of caring eyes and hands.
Because the reality is, most of us can’t be there every day.
But Pankey’s Table can be there for your mom, dad, grandmother, or grandfather when you can’t.
Before Pankey’s Table, I had never started a business quite like this. I have a business law degree, own a remodeling company, and my husband and I are real estate investors. But this business was different. I prayed about it, and I believe God showed me that the need for senior meals and meaningful mealtime support is not simply a want—it is a genuine need. I felt Him telling me, “I’m sending you to do it.”
So I am walking by faith and not by sight.
Pankey’s Table was inspired by my grandmother, supported by my husband, rooted in our Christian faith, and created for families like ours.
